jake_ford 0 Posted June 4, 2002 Here is a clear violation of the rule of thirds. What else could I do? Link to comment
ptn4egl 0 Posted June 7, 2002 Is that purple cast natural? Why is the surfer inthe middle of the image? The noise in the lower left is distracting. Try playing with the cropping a bit. What do you think about cutting off the left 1/3 of the image? Link to comment
mike_sea 0 Posted June 18, 2002 Great Shot Jake, i like a couple of things here. Firstly this shot clearly isn't about the actual surfer so I like the space you gave him. Secondly, the amount of broken and developing wave are wonderful and balanced to my eye. Thirdly, the silohette of the rider is waht is required, as stated the shot is not of the man but the wave he is trying to tame. The quirky way the tip of his board is in the sunlight is a bonus that couldn't have been planned. Maybe a little more detail on the blue could have been achieved through another stop or two but it works for me Mike Sea Link to comment
tom_permutt 0 Posted February 28, 2003 It's actually a pretty classic *application* of the rule of thirds. The right side of the frame is divided into flat water, wave and sky. The left side is divided unequally. The space is also divided left and right well right of the center of the frame. Yes, the surfer's in the middle, but, as Mike says, it's not a picture of a surfer.
