Lyndsay! This is beautiful...just a hint of color and a bit of grain. Lovely spot...I'd love to be able to just sit there and enjoy the peace of the surroundings. Excellent! :)

Lyndsay,

Beautiful Shot and wonderful landscape.

I really like how you have left a bit of colour in the water.

It is a pity about the tree that is closest to the camera, it sort of spoils the symmetry of the trees and the bench.

If your into landscapes I would suggest getting some ND grad filters, they will help you to keep that detail in the sky as that looks really interesting as too but it has lost some detail.

Cokin do some and they are not expensive. Oh if you do go the Cokin route, get the p series not the b (at least I think it is the b), I can't even understand why they make it when you can shoot less than about 35mm.

Wandering, overall I think its a very pleasing shot and a beautiful landscape.

This is fantastic!! Good job! Oh Yah - that's solitary! I wish I could be sitting on that bench right now! heheh we're all so bad all of us uploading now - we're like a bunch of kids at Christmas who can't wait to open our gifts! This is so beautiful!

I really like the tones and how there is still some green visible. Maybe it's because of the the trees on either side of the bench, but it makes it feel kind of like late fall or early winter. I like the pattern of the reflection of the trees in the water. That adds depth to an are that could have had unnecesary empty space.

I have to say this is my favorite photo that I have seen.

I do agree that the sky is abit blown out but over all amazing and who knows if you were to add more to the sky if it would really fir the rest of the photo..

I find myself looking more at the bench & tress & the ground.

I love it Great job!

Ger, you crazy guy, I love that tree in the foreground. Doesn't throw the symmetry off for me. But that's what makes horseracing I suppose. I actually love the whole foreground, the rocky ground and the way it's catching the sunlight. The little bit of color amazingly is really all you need in this shot. You've made the bench feel so warm and inviting. A solitary spot indeed.

I like the little tree out front. I think without it, the landscape might appear too flat/too static/too expected. One of those words. I love this shot. And it's true - the colouring just makes that bench all the more warm and inviting. Such a good job!

...Look At Little Sister!!!! Lyndsay, there is no doubt that you are a Landscape photographer my dear! I do hope that you purchase some filters when you get the chance. They will take you even further. Cokin does put out some fine filters in their upper series and are not too expensive. They often run sales like "Buy two and get one free", so keep an eye out for that. Also remember that if you get a polorizing filter (And you should!) you must get a "CIRCULAR POLORIZER" for digital cameras. That particular one IS kind of expensive but well worth it in my opinion. The only thing I would change here is the color on the foremost tree. Just desaturate it a little bit so that the green is still there but does not grab so much attention. Beautiful place to take us and presented so well!

You should sorta feel warm and fuzzy inside. This is a very good capture. I like the colours [or the lack thereof] and the composition. The hint of grains on this shot ~ intentional?

Now for the picture itself ~ WOW ~ if you just had it even in black in white I would be screaming 7/7 because it is gorgeous and that little bitty spot out there with that area that looks like a fish just jumped out of it (who cares what it really is) looks COOL!

The whole picture is post card WONDERFUL!

YEP ~ Your on your way to bigger "brother" better things HA! lol

Truthfully I think you have a really great picture and the treatment you did was great but I think you have just as great a picture in the black and white high contrast look.

You fit the subject well and I love it! :)~ wonderful ~ micki

Fred, Jan & Ger: I love the battle over the tree. That tree was a huge annoyance of mine as I was adjusting this shot. It was actually a lot taller with just this skinny branch sticking straight up and wrecked it my skyline so I took it out. But I do like the bottom of it in the shot, adds a bit of dimension and brings me back to the foreground. Thanks to each of you for your opinion.

Anthony: I would LOVE to get the filters you are talking about but first I need to get a big girl camera. I am so new to this its silly but as soon as I can I will invest some moola into this great art. Thanks for you advice, I may come asking for more when its time to buy.

Julius: The grain is I guess semi intentional. You see I am not a technical photographer yet. I just take the shots that grab me and when I am adjusting them later, I do it all by feel, until it is something that just looks right to me. I look forward to the day when I know the technical aspects of photography. Thanks

Micki: Thanks, and I agree, originally I did this in just the B&W and I liked that too, but as I started to play with the image more and going with the title I really liked how this version made you feel like you were welcome there. As though the bench was waiting for you to sit and enjoy the view.

Lyndasy!

Very well said... Photography should be about "feel" and not technical stuff.

Everyone has echo's what I said to begin with... You've got REAL natural talent!

No rush on the "big girl" camera... you're doing fine with this one, and we can find ways to get filters to fit what you have...

what kind of camera? Now I'm curious ~ was this a point and shoot? Hmmm another point and shoot girl?

I was going to ask Andrew if I could use his BIG GUN this week for fun :)

A photograph that talks to me... I'm a nature, landscape, outdoor, little man-made type guy... This is nice.

Technical: Not much to pick on. The tones and darkroom work are well done. The composition is good too. Ger is right, but, I don't like hacking down trees for my photos ;o), so this doesn't bother me. A little cloning work and the tree disappears....

Assignment. I feel a solitary spot for someone to contemplate what type of fish just made the splash in the water....
