afs760bf 0 Posted June 3, 2002 Great expression, no doubt. The only thing that makes one wonder if he can really be that stressed is that there is someone walking only about ten feet below with his back to the climber, and there is someone obviously at a safe vantage point who can get close enough to take a picture without worrying about the climber's fate. Thanks for posting. Link to comment
niclas_emdelius 0 Posted June 5, 2002 Actually, he really was stressed and atleast 30ft above the ground. But I agree with your comment, maybe it doesn't look that way in the picture. Niclas. Link to comment
stacey_waselovich 0 Posted June 5, 2002 This caught my eye. I agree that the person on the ground takes away from the photo's "reality" - so can't you just edit that person out? Anyways - I'd be really stressed if I were him, even if there was a person beneath me! Link to comment
mike_bikes 0 Posted June 6, 2002 Ya, that person looks farther than 10' down... Great job capturing the difficulty of climbing. What was that climb rated? Link to comment
niclas_emdelius 0 Posted June 6, 2002 I don't think it was harder than a french 6b. It was a mixed route, and he didn't trust his last nut placement but had no other choice but to move on to find a better one. Niclas. Link to comment
jennifer_ridgeway 0 Posted June 9, 2002 I like this, so much feeling in his face. I feel a bit sorry for the subject though. Link to comment

antonio_quinones 0 Posted July 9, 2002 The big plus for this image is that the photographer had enough sense to get close to the action (physically or with a lens). Too many action pictures introduce so much separation between the subject and the viewer that there is no opportunity to develop a sense of empathy. The person below the climber and the cut-off legs detract from the image. However, those problems are easier to fix (in a subsequent series of pictures) than not having a good eye and good photographic sense. Overall, a good picture. Link to comment
