josylvestre 0 Posted June 11, 2007 what a disaster... They forgot one tree... Its a matter of time Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted June 11, 2007 The b&w or the color one? Hmmm I really like them both. It is almost like they would both look great together in kind of a puzzle look in a frame. I also LOVE the title!! I guess you can say I identify with the tree ~ being alone since I sometimes feel so alone till the kids got out of school! missed you glad your back! Link to comment
arnold de beer 0 Posted June 11, 2007 I'm usually a B&W guy - but for some reason this one works very well in colour. The fence in the foreground and different greenary really makes this shot. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 11, 2007 Kellen-- I know I already commented on this one, unless I'm going nuts which is, of course, possible! Mezmerizing scene. Link to comment
dee 14 0 Posted June 16, 2007 I have considered doing a shot like this for a while now... All I can say about yours is that you have captured the feeling that I want to capture everytime I think of doing a shot like this. Congrats! And welcome back! Link to comment
jan_piller 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Excellent choice for "solitary"! I too welcome you back!! Link to comment
mvisionphotography 1 Posted June 18, 2007 Great choice Kellen! I already made my comment, I think you should move the B&W white here too ;) HA Link to comment
kellen1 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Even though I LOVE black and white for it's contrast...I really like how the color turned out here. It really looks just like what I was seeing at that moment. I like the way that the sky looks especially & I am really proud of myself about this pic because I have always passed this and wanted to take a picture of it & now I have! Link to comment
lchartier 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Beautiful image. I like the way the fence divides the different type/colours of grass. I'm glad you finally stopped to take the picture. Link to comment
steve lamplugh 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Kellen, what a completely fitting entry for Solitary! Nice capture!! Link to comment
kellen1 0 Posted June 18, 2007 BTW-This is the SAME tree that is bare in my black & whites folder Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted June 18, 2007 Hi, Kellen. Welcome to the Warriors! You brave soul! ;-p We're a rowdy bunch...fair warning! ;-p As for this shot...I like the color; the greens are soothing. My only nitpick would be that the tree is dead center. I would probably have gone with sticking it on one side or the other and possibly closer to the bottom, but that wouldn't necessarily be better...just a thought. Leslie Link to comment
kellen1 0 Posted June 19, 2007 But thanks for saying it looks polarized! I just got lucky with the time of day I think! I thought about cloning out the fence but I thought it gave the pic a little depth & more character. He is alone & fenced in! Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted June 21, 2007 apolgies, I did not realise you posted this. I really like the colours and the DOF but I just have to play around with this one, i'll be back in a sec... ger.. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 21, 2007 I think the tree being centered adds to the power of isolation in the image. For me, centering often brings with it added starkness. And I also love Kellen's interpretation of the fence. Could also be seen as an intrusion on solitude or a human intrusion on nature. John's thoughts about a lack of fence also appeal to me in aiding the simplicity of this image. Wonderful to consider various artistic choices. I, personally, LOVE the cloudless sky. It seems so appropriate. Link to comment
sfdgs 0 Posted June 21, 2007 I agree with Fred in that the tree should be centered, because if it was to the side of the frame it could lead the mind to wonder what was right next to the tree. This way, we know it is isolated in the field. Wonderful colors and composition--Jason Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted June 21, 2007 Well said Jason and Fred... I tried bringing down the sky with a crop but the image lost something Ger.. Link to comment
