ken_james 0 Posted June 8, 2007 ian: I think you are a trooper because this is a difficult flower to photograph...the middle is not very pretty and is busy...here you have it soft with the petals tight...it is hard to pull off a flower pic with a somewhat large blurry area in the middle of it...i might have tried shooting it from the side..that way you would have been able to shoot it tight without being overwhelmed by the center. iancoxleigh 0 Posted June 9, 2007 Thank you Roger very much. Ken, thank you too for your compliments and suggestions. As to shooting from the side, I would have shot this photo from the side, but I would have lost all of the background (it is in a small rock garden bed) from either side you would have had gray rocks or gray sidewalk. Plus, I quite liked how the shallow DOF had pushed the central 'mess' out of focus and made your eye travel in a circle around the petals which are quite sharp. P.S. For anyone looking for a lens, I love my new Nikon 70-300VR for nature and birds and even for close-ups -- this is with a Canon 500D diopter added onto it at 300mm were it is least sharp. iancoxleigh 0 Posted August 19, 2008 Thanks Raj. May I ask, how did this image come to your attention? Was it in the 'random image generator' or something? Link to comment
