ken_james 0 Posted June 5, 2007 a touch...there are a lot of things i like about the photo...one being I think it is funny...this girl has a good sense of humor about herself (I assume) and that is refreshing to see...I find that bare tree in back of her head to be a distraction ( i don't want anything distracting me from the subject matter because there is a lot i want to take in...like the sofa, shoes, etc.)..I can see why you would have gone with color, but with that light I would almost go into Photoshop and see what it looks like in high contrast b/w...it is a bit washed out as it is...and i think high contrast b/w might bring out the textures of the fabric and clothing more as well as accentuate her theatrical side. ken Link to comment
j j photography 0 Posted June 5, 2007 Hello Amy, I read your heading and when I saw the image, a 70's B-movie type image came across. So please remember, this is just my opinion. I hope you find it constructive whether or not you use it or not.I think you should crop the image with the models head in the top right third of the frame. I would add moderate to heavy vignetting. I would also clone out the whitish objects on the left horizon. Finally, add a sepia tone to the image to give it an aged, but not dated, feel. If not sepia, a 25% - 50% desaturated layer. Please, let me know what you come up with. I would like to see the final image. Great colors BTW!! Best wishes, Jeff Link to comment
amycary-hult 0 Posted June 7, 2007 Thanks for the suggestions, Jeff and Ken. I added the edited image below. I tried my best to remove the tree from the background. Since I am not very good with cloning (really couldn't figure out how to remove the tree with the cloning method), I used the healing brush. I'm worried the job I did doesn't look very nice. I desaturated the image at 45% and cropped so that the model's head was more in the upper right corner than before. Also, I did try my first attempt at vignetting. What do you think? Link to comment
j j photography 0 Posted June 19, 2007 Hello Amy! I apologize for the late response. You did a great job of cloning on the edit. Yes, that is closer to what I was talking about. You are so good at photographing personalities btw (the trust you have gained with you models shines through)! Best wishes, Jeff Link to comment
