It's a dream.Live with it.I have forgotten every book I've read so far on theories in raising children. No more Redhoods or Cinderellas.Times have changed, because WE are different fathers than ours.Suck YOUR fingers as much as you can,you have to live with it.Don't panic,I'm not one of the coolest fathers either.Sweet big, black eyes and a lovely face.Don't ask for more at this time.My compliments for sharing.

Hi Jeff. Beautiful lighting, tones, colors, perspective, DOF, but of course the subject is adorable. There is a lot of creativity in this. Regards.

Thank you for sharing part of your life with us through these personal pictures by giving us a glimpse into how this special person is growing up. Does your child find it amusing that you take so many pictures? Watch it, this might be a future photographer in the making. ;) PhoS is right, enjoy every minute of it. Time is relentless in its march. You captured the nature of childhood well in this picture. The expression seems to say "I'm sorry" with those big eyes.

What happened afterwards? Did he/she cry or give a big smile?

This little guy is delightful to look at. Those eyes are so beautiful, deep, and lovable. He couldn't be thinking of anything mischievous, he looks too much like an innocent, adorable, little angel.

I wonder if you need that light on the lower left? It pulls my eye away from the baby and the amazing eyes. But, that said, you have a wonderful portrait of a gorgeous little boy.

My kids are used to the paparazzi. My boy gets a little camara-shy, but my girl is always mugging for the camara. She sees a flash go off, and she's convinced it's about her. Thanks for such wonderful comments, all.

Typically, I might agree with the comment about the strength of the light but in this case I think it works well. I see it as a mirror of the light in her eyes. For me, it gives the photo depth and suggests a mood of strong light entering this peaceful scene as a metaphor for good things to come or at least some sort of positive thinking. As her face is centered and her eyes so big and wide, there's no chance of my attention getting sidetracked from the main (adorable and sweet) event, so the light serves as a highlight, a compositional and expressive element that balances (or rather unbalances an otherwise centered image--which is a great use of composition and space) the photo. What's so great here is the connection with the photographer and the viewer, in a very unposed situation. Her hand plays such an important role without blocking the mouth completely, so I get a good sense of the whole face. A pleasure to look at and be made a part of.

This is one of the best child portraits I have ever seen. The little one is beautiful, those eyes are amazing and the expression so natural and unstaged. Exquisite! 7/7
