Hera

The queen of the Olympian deities. She is a daughter of Cronus and Rhea, and wife and sister of Zeus. With all the facination I had in my youth with mythology,how could I have never thought of this!Clever idea and you pulled it off quite well. Congrats!

I really like the way Hera looks like stone in the clouds. She looks as if she's looking down on us from the heavens. It's amazing what you can do with a computer and imagination. I love it!

Joseph, You are the expert. My knowledge of mythology reaches back to a smattering in junior high. I am impressed, my friend. Now, perhaps I should consult you for titles from here on.

Oh, i guess you work a little bit of this composition. Goddess of Love and Marriage, she looks over us like a mother protecting her children.

Jeff, this is not the kind of work I'm drawn to or very much interested in. Nevertheless I can appreciate your desire to pursue this and enjoy knowing and seeing that it stimulates your creativity. I guess it might work better for me if I felt the face was somehow being made of clouds, which I don't feel here. It comes across to me more like stone in the sky and that feels a little heavy given what I am assuming should be a more ethereal sense. But perhaps you were after something else that I'm just not getting. In any case, I'm glad you're having fun!

Thanks for the comments. This is an experiment, inspired in part by the montages that Antanas, Michael M., and others routinely do so well. This was a statue from the Musee D'Orsay. My imagination was such that I saw this cloud formation and thought it was roughly the same shape as the statue. I imagine what sculptors must have thought trying to extract deities out of stone. So, that's my backstory for this one. The joy is in the journey not the arrival, as they say.

You possess a lot of creativity and this is perfect proof. It's amazing to see where we find inspiration. Sometimes it can be hidden or staring right in front of us. Divine protection is something that humans have always craved, whether preparing for battle or asking for assistance after a disaster. You represented that ancient wish in this picture tangibly.

Good experiment. You won't learn if you don't experiment. Very creative & brilliant idea.

Hera was the daughter of Cronus and Rhea, who were Titans. The Titans were giants who once ruled the world. In your portrait she is clearly a giant. Since she was the wife of Zeus she was ( I presume) beautiful. Perhaps when you took the picture sun angle was not perfect and Hera does not look handsome enough.

Otherwise very creative and splendid piece of art.

Thanks for your comment on the bird. Yes, that bird seemed to be showing off to the camera turning his head in different directions as I took the photo shots.

I don't know much about mythology, but I do know that this is one brilliant creation. Bravo on this! I just signed up for a Photoshop Elements online course, and I'm really excited about learning more editing techniques. Thanks for this one!
