radim_schreiber 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Is there a way to improve composition? I have cropped some out already. Link to comment
mag_miksch 25 Posted May 30, 2007 For me the dead tree is to much centered Regards Martin Link to comment
stp 6 Posted May 31, 2007 A few thoughts: you have a blank space on the right, and another blank space just to the left of center. What I presume is the primary focus (the dead branches) are some distance away and occupy only a very small part of the image. Therefore, I think many viewers just won't know where to look or what the primary intention of image might be. That amount of uncertainty will detract from the image. The one alternative that I see here would be to zoom in considerably on the dead branches (and the reflection), while also including some of the vegetation to the right. This will not do it justice, but this is what I was thinking. Link to comment
radim_schreiber 0 Posted May 31, 2007 Thank you, appreciate your feedback. I know what you are saying about the focus of attention being too small. Maybe if the dead tree wasn't in the photo it would be better. Link to comment
alexander_rydberg 0 Posted June 1, 2007 I get this feeling that the image is "flowing" to the left. I would've cropped it so that the dead tree is closer with an open space to the left, not right as below. Or simply use th tree to the right as frame on that side. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted June 1, 2007 Interesting comment. I felt the image was flowing to the right (per the dead branches), and that's why I had the branches going from left to right, while retaining the relatively interesting fir tree further to the right. Link to comment
radim_schreiber 0 Posted June 2, 2007 Interesting, one things it is too centered, one that it pulls right and one that it pulls left :-). I personally think that it is well balanced except left side doesn't have same directional power as the right side. Thanks for all your comments. Link to comment
