nicely caught but those burnt out bits - sky by the right hand chimney and the waves also to the right - are just a touch distracting. cheers, rob

Keith, great shot and composition but the white on the building does distract by the detail being blown out around the windows. There is a good plugin for PS called Paint With Light II for PS that takes care of this easily. I'd better not post the link in case in breaks rules but it's on a well known site for photoshop actions. (I pray I haven't broken any rules now by posting this but the actions are freebies for sharing and this one is expecially handy for situation like this one).

Would have been nice to see much more detail in the huge plume of spray if it was possible. A little tweak with the dodge brush could help.

Thanks all for your kind words - Neil and Rob, the white is caused by the unique light at the moment, the sky was moving rapidly and the light was coming from behind my right shoulder with very bright glimpses of sunshine over a stormy dark sky hence the bright white clouds above. Sandsend is unique for this when the low cloud breaks from of the sea. I converted the image into black and white with Aperture and purposely blew the whites to show what I saw in the moment. The print will look much nicer believe me.

The grey wave was grey, because dirty water was dragged off the beach with the raging sea; the spray in front always breaks whiter.

Thanks Keith
