ccabaniss 9 Posted August 1, 2002 I know my ratings for your work seem rather high lately. But I don't know why this doesn't merrit a solid 10! Best regards. Link to comment
r.m. 8 Posted January 18, 2003 I had some time to myself this afternoon. My husband took the kids hiking, and I thought I'd come back and linger a bit in your portfolio. I've read all the comments; it's all been said - "Beautiful"..."Incredible"..."Superb" all true and well deserved accolades, no need to repeat them (oh, wait a minute, I just did :)). I just wanted to add that many of them brought me peace & calm; just what's needed when you're constantly dealing with 2 toddlers. Even here, in an empty room you've managed to pull up a chair for me to sit and relax. How thoughtful. Thanks, it was a lovely break. Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted January 19, 2003 You brought a smile to my face, it's really nice to have one's pictures enjoyed! You would appreciate the story of making this picture. Mum, Dad, 4yo, 2month old, were on one of the first day-outings with the new bub. We went to an historic National Trust homestead. I took the camera hoping for a chance to get some nice pictures. The visit was very short. Mr. 4 was impatient and nagging, 2 month old would not settle in the pram, and cried and cried. We decided to give up and go home. This is the old shearing shed of the homestead, and I popped my head in for a quick look while Mum was trundling off to the car park with the kids. The week before this the POW of photo.net had been a picture of a chair (which I found quite boring). When I spied the blue chair in the corner of this room, my cynical competitive instincts took over. I took only a few seconds to move the chair into the nice pool of light with the window in the background and took one frame before racing off to help put the kids in the car. I put the camera on the roof of the car while reaching in to secure the screaming 2 month old in the carrier. We jumped in and drove off. About 2 miles down the road, a farmer in a tractor coming the other way flashed his lights and pointed upwards. We stopped and got the camera from the roof. So although the picture does evoke a degree of serenity, the occasion of it's making was anything but serene! Cheers, Link to comment
