stephen_justice 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Scotty better be in "The Zone"; he only weighs 130 lbs. and rides a bike that covers the quarter mile in six seconds at over 200 mph. One mental error or lapse in skill can put him in immediate physical peril. I tried to capture the control and concentration required of a professional like Scotty. Obviously, the crew member understands the great risk Scotty takes every time he makes a run. Link to comment
scoobylicious 0 Posted May 22, 2007 A great bike and I like you write up about the photo. I am guessing you have used a fast shutter speed as the rear wheel seems quite static. I would experiment with shutter speed to get more motion blur on the wheel. Difficult I know. I'm glad you've pointing out the crew member. Looking at your photos has made me realise that the bystanders can be as important as the subject. Link to comment
stephen_justice 0 Posted May 22, 2007 Alistair, One great attribute of drag racing is the physical proximity fans have with the racers. At Sacramento Raceway fans standing at the fence are no more than 10-15 yards from the racing surface. It is so in the pits where the fans are allowed to stroll up and down the rows of race cars and get exceptionally close to their heros. The racers love this interaction with the fans, and in turn, do their upmost to put on a great show. The men and women who ride these methonal-burning drag bikes take unbelieveable risks just to entertain us. They are many times more exciting than even the 300 mph top fuel dragsters. Link to comment
