younes 0 Posted May 19, 2007 Kah Kit, this a gorgeous shot that does this amazing area justice! This is probably my favorite site on the Oz East coast (may be with the Whitsundays). Beautiful light, great tones, love the clouds. Link to comment

will king 0 Posted May 20, 2007 There are a hand full of WOW photos here on PN and this is one of them. Very well done Kah. Which do you prefer, the D200 or the 5D? Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted May 20, 2007 This one was actually taken by Winnie. We were both planning to shoot the nearby, Loch Ard Gorge at sunset. I noticed these clouds building up and made the decision to split up, no point the 2 of us getting the same shot. So I dropped her off at the apostles with an ND grad & she made this shot. Regarding the D200 versus 5D, I think both are good value for money. The 5D is in my opinion the best camera for the landscapist, including the 1DS MkII. Versus the D200, it has better noise performance, higher resolution (even though there is only 2 MP in it the difference seems greater), and the pictures look smoother with less grain. Pros of the D200 is better build & environmental sealing, controls are better laid out, seems to have a more vivid colour palette (5D colours appear muted in comparison), is quite a bit cheaper. Also I prefer the Nikon 12-24mm than any of the Canon lenses. I arrived back at the apostles a bit later & we had a relaxing evening watching the light change & took a few more shots. Link to comment

copeg 0 Posted May 21, 2007 Beautiful!!! Comp, light, and color is outstanding. I love the V the foreground land creates, and how its paralleled by the cloud formation, all frames the coastline remarkably well. Excellent work Link to comment

miguel_kieling 0 Posted January 9, 2008 Hello Kah, I've always been an admirer of your images. This is another gem. I wonder what would have happened had you used a Reverse Filter for this image. I've done some research online but do not undersand what the difference is between this and a simple neutral density filter like the one you used for this photo. Would you mind helping me with this? Thank you very much!! Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted January 9, 2008 The reverse ND filter may have been a better choice in this instance as the horizon was the brightest part of the sky. It usually is when you are shooting in the direction of the sun. On the other hand the reverse ND would have less control at the top of the frame and I would have risked blowing out the cloud highlights in the right upper corner. Link to comment
