Beautiful! Love the beautiful tones in this, I only wish her left eye were a tad more visible, more of the lashes showing I think...but that really is a small thing and just MHO...I can't stop looking at this....

Youthful black skin like this is very photogenic and you have done a wonderful job with the lighting to render its rich tonality, contrasting with the whiteness of the teeth and the eye.

I agree with the previous comment about the eye being too near the frame; also I'm not enthusiastic about the size of the catchlight in the eye.

Tmax 100 film.

Shot with one flash infront of her(u see the reflection in her eyes)

And one flash on the wall behind.

I really miss the second eye here. But tonal range and contrast are superb. Sharpness too!

Yeah, me too. Wonderful tones, very pleasing and has a great energy. Really makes me happy to look at this, but when i see where the left eye should be it just aint right. It's like an optical illusion, it looks like there's a blank spot right where her eye should be. Kinda freaky when you think about it. Other than that, I love it.

Wonderful tonality; it's like the zone system applied to a portrait! Unfortunately the cropping does not help its emotional appeal. It is not apparent why only part of a face should be shown. It is as though we are viewing upon something more important going on. As it is, were it mine, I would crop out the right space to make it more vertical and not be a slave to the square format.

I really like this, lovely smile! Exposure and pose is very good indeed. So is the short DOF too. The catch light is a bit distracting, I would have liked not to see it (placed it in white of the eye). The photo intrigues me slightly, what's she smiling about and what's she looking at?

If her entire left eye lash would have been on the photo, so would probably parts of her right eye, which would have been more disturbing. Tilting her head more would have worked against this photo as I see it. That would also have showed more hair and made the portrait less tight.

I look forward to see more where that came from! For some reason I think of a campain shot by Swedish photographer Hans Gedda about ten years ago for Hasselblad. That is entirely meant as a compliment. Jenny, gillar du Hans Gedda?
