toshio 8 Posted May 29, 2002 My uncle, lifetime amateur photographer and camera collctor, died recently, at the age of 76. He bought me my first camera when I was eight and taught me how to take pictures. Among two dozens of cameras he left me, I took Leica M5 and M4-2 with me and returned to US. This photo is the very first shot I took with M5/Summicron35/2.0 in a small coffee shop in Japan. As a dedicated Nikon user for 30 years, I was amazed by the unique personality of this lens. Nikon would never express soft atmosphere of this kind. Link to comment
contax.org.uk 0 Posted May 29, 2002 Really quite a mundane subject, but somehow you have made it interesting. Nice composition and layout.... I'm not sure if you adjusted the objects on the table for your shot but they look very well placed, the lighting is perfect too. Link to comment
brian_e 0 Posted May 30, 2002 would this be better with the coffee cup more to the left to balance the composition? Link to comment
ceottaki 0 Posted June 13, 2002 Great picture! A really common object and scene, but surprisingly it got interesting in your photo. I loved the background just a little bit out of focus, and the colors are really beautiful. Congratulations specialy on the originality, but also on the aesthetics. Link to comment
dillan k 0 Posted November 25, 2007 I saw this photo posted in the "no words" forum, and I just have to comment. This shot is arresting. The arrangement of everything in the photo is appealing, and the shallow depth of field is perfect. The bokeh is very pleasing too. You've made me lust after a Leica with a shot like this. This is really my kind of photo. Thanks for posting it. Link to comment
