gerfoy3 0 Posted May 23, 2007 Ok, I love this shot because of the chaos add to by the angle of the shot. One of the first images I took when I went digital. Comments and Improvements welcome. Ger.. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 23, 2007 OK, Ger, I'll tell you this is one of my favorite of your photos. Part of that is because I love street shooting, so the spontaneity, unposed feel, and messiness definitely works in your favor. There is a total story here and everything adds to the story. Yet, as always, your main subject is adorable and stands out from her own story. You've got incredible light on her face and clothing and the entire room. Even the folds in the pants behind her capture the light beautifully. Her expression is genuine and wonderful and her eyes are just dazzling. The texture and pattern of her sweater is great. Whoever it is lounging on the couch adds the best touch imaginable. So real and so relaxed. And her toys and things strewn about the room makes the environment appropriate, interesting, and something we can all relate to. You already know I like this angle and I'm glad you thought of it first. Top notch! --Fred Link to comment
gerfoy3 0 Posted May 23, 2007 Thanks Fred. We agree on this one. I was going through some of my old images, laughing at most of them (which is good it means I have improved in 2 years) and then I saw this..and I said to myself...Oh my God..I think this might be the best image I have ever taken, so I haven't improved at all!!...I just love the life in it. and the window light has created a wonderful feeling to it. 3 things that really add to it for me is the angle, the body on the couch (I think the fact you can't see the head really adds to it, what do you think?) and the hand on my lap. Guest Guest Posted May 23, 2007 Ger, the headless body is terrific. After your daughter, that was the first thing I noticed. I shoot a lot of portraits using window lighting and find it allows for great highlights and offers wonderful light to work with. I wouldn't have realized that was your lap, honestly, until you said so. I assumed it was the arm of the chair. Now that I know it, it adds somewhat to the photo. I agree that it may be my favorite of yours. Nothing wrong with that, a couple of my own earliest are my favorites too. Nothing wrong with putting to work all that you've learned and gotten from experience and going back to the kinds of feelings that got you this photo, putting it all together as you grow. I do really think this photo has no flaws. Link to comment

dee 14 0 Posted May 24, 2007 Oh Ger! I think you and Fred have pretty much said it all already, so I just wanted to say that I find this to be quite brilliant! The fact that this is an early shot just shows that you always had potential, the improvement is that your able to do it on a more consistant basis now. Link to comment
