jeffl7 0 Posted May 11, 2007 Simply exceptional. I love the luminous and loving expressions beaming out of those soft shadows. The desaturated color adds to the softness as well. Beautiful. Link to comment
shadowcatcher 0 Posted May 12, 2007 Me and my mam. I have been trying to get the lighting and tones right for ages. Hope I've done it. Any comments most welcome. Best wishes Kev Link to comment
zigzag 0 Posted May 12, 2007 The tones are good, the arrangement of the hands 'interesting' (at first misleading), nice strong eye contact, mam emphasised with son in support. Could tone down that white light line left of her head. Link to comment
mark_starr 0 Posted May 12, 2007 Now this is what a portrait should be- you have captured the moment and the two people so well that viewers that don't even know them will find the image worth contmeplating for a long time. Very, very nicely done - thanks for sharing it with us! Mark Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 12, 2007 Great portrait work! The real thing. This is genuine, expressive, beautifully done. The light is in your faces. I might not have cropped so tightly on your face, leaving just a little room to breathe like with your mom. Brings out wonderful emotion in me. Link to comment
andrea allison 0 Posted May 17, 2007 The light and tones are beautiful. I think it is just lovely. I know when I have taken photo's of my mom, now 81 yrs, it is hard to get the skin tones, looking nice. You have done a fantastic job. I am sure your Mom is pleased. The image show's warmth and love. The close crop on your side tells me that the photo is about her and that it is for you to have. Nicely done! Kind Regards Andrea Link to comment
ccd853 0 Posted June 8, 2007 It's a good one, I agree, nice work! If I had to be picky, I maybe wouldn't mind just a tiny trace more of a smile on your mom's face. That said, I wish I had a nice one like this of my mom and myself! Link to comment
shadowcatcher 0 Posted June 8, 2007 Thanks for the kind comments. Unfortunately, the reason my mam's face is sort of expressionless is because she has Parkinson's disease. This 'Parkinson's mask' is one of the first subtler indicators of the disease. However, she may well be unhappy as well since she hates her picture taken. Please don't worry about my mother though, Parkinson's isn't fatal and although she can't get out anymore, she is very happy and I love her very much. Many thanks, Kevin Link to comment

shadowcatcher 0 Posted August 19, 2008 This is my favourite picture of my mother and I, who sadly has passed away and left me heart-broken. Sleep well Mam, until we meet again. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted August 20, 2008 I'm truly sorry to hear about your mother's passing. Her photos speak loudly of your care and connection for each other. I wish you a lot of peace. Link to comment
