I like it but imo a square with the middle part of this photo could be even more engaging (left and right parts do not add anything but rather distract). Sepia tonality is quite heavy.

... thanks for the comments, Pierre, you can rate or not as you please. I have stopped rating but in your case I would love to make a difference. If the 3/3'ers finally die out, I might just have to rate one of your best as a 3/3 just to see googie come back! :) Meanwhile, my tuxedo is being let out a little so that I can wear it to your gala opening!

Michal, how good it is to see your name on a comment. As my first friend here on PN, and as someone who inevitably improved my shots with your comments (and often with your skill in PS), I was delighted to see you had returned, hopefully for good. As for your notes on this shot, you are probably right. I really overdid the sepia, but it was intentional, I kept going because I liked it better and better as it got darker. As to the framing, what do you think? I think it is better this way.

Dennis, you are too kind for me. I like your works much and it is really a pleasure to comment them. I like this crop much more - it really works! As to the sepia, it is a matter of taste. In such cases I usually make two or three versions. I reopen them after two weeks to have a fresh look and then I choose. I would prefer this one a little less saturated but it is still very appealing to me as is.

Hi Dennis, I like your second version, it concentrate the composition. It is logical that darkness as the light is a backlight. I like the heavy Sepia, it works for me, it adds drama to the old towered constraction Good work!

... thanks for your help, like it much better this way, after a few days of looking. One of the great things about PN is the ability to get considered criticique, like this. As always, look forward to seeing your name on a comment.

Hi Dennis, I like both versions equally and I like the rich sepia and dark tones. Very moody and atmospheric. I like how a subtle ray of light is shining over the chateau. Thanks for your nice comment. Cheers. Denise
