I'm sorry, but I have seen at least one hundred photos of dandelions on PN in the past month.

4/3.

Andrew Campbell, the white in the right corner is another dandelion (this is the word?)..

Although qualitatively harsh and superficial, I salute Matt's attitude towards rating signature.

I agree that my statemant/signature to the low rating was qualitative and harsh, and that it did not really explain why I rated this photo a 4 in aesthetics and a 3 in originality.

Let me elaborate...

I find the photo to be only average in aesthetics because there is so little detail visible in a photo that to ME seems as though it should be full of detail, since it is an extreme closeup or macro. If it were intended as art in regard to separate form and color and light, it also only acheives average status for ME because the forms are not interesting or unique enough to command the attention of the viewer (in this case me), and the colors are so muted and/or washed out as to be almost non existent.

As for originality, I reiterate that photos of dandelions are a dime a dozen, as is evidenced by the large numbers of such pictures on Photo.Net, and so a photographer hasd to strive extra hard when shooting this subject in order to make it stand out with any sort of originlaity at all. In this case i think the photo is less than average in originality and I rated it as such.

It would be the same if this were a photo of a waterfall, for example. In order to get a photo so common and cliched rated above a 3 in originality for ME, you have to show me something that makes the photo stand out.

One of the guidelines that PN has given us in regards to rating originality is to ask oneself "Would I have thought to have taken this photo this way?"

I am sorry, in this case, to me, this picture of a dandelion is less than average in originality.

Thank you, Matt for your "explanation". As I said, this is your opinion and I respect it. Though I want you to know that I really think before posting a photo on PN, and yes, this was a manipulation of an photo that I've taken after a long photo shooting in a park. Here

I put the color version.

Anyway thanks again for your comment.
