A red panda. Compositionally, I think it's rather uninteresting, but

everyone I've asked says it's National Geographic quality, so...

I'm in agreement about the composition, its too centred. I think the main reason you've been hearing that is because the subject is so unique. National Geo is probably one of the few publications that would have photos of red pandas. Sorry, I guess,

How about a uniform crop pulling down from top left enough to remove the strong vertical line on the left? That would help your subject dominate a little more and I think its sharp enough to handle the tighter crop.

I don't him/her being centered. I just think there is a fair bit of extraneous space here.
