hool 0 Posted May 19, 2002 my friend loreleiah gave me a theme request when i was out with my camera for a day. it was 'unfulfilled promises' and this is what i made.i would like to know how this photo makes you feel. does it engage you at all? Link to comment

hool 0 Posted May 20, 2002 Vladimir Livshits truly lives up to his name when he rated this photo at 1 / 2, and didn't leave a comment. i'm perfectly aware that the people who photograph trees and flowers exclusively will probably not like this photo. if that's the case, try to explain why. you can learn a lot by figuring out why you have such a negative reaction to an image. an extremely low rating with no comment is counterproductive for both your development and the photographer, and photo.net as a whole. paul_norman_dicaire 0 Posted May 21, 2002 Interesting theme. The first thing that comes to my mind has its' roots in fairy tales... He kissed the frog (that IS a frog, isn't it?? *L*) hoping for it to turn into a beautiful princess... and this is what he got instead! Upon closer inspection, it could be a bird. If so, then I would like to think that he was lured into a tree with promises of flight and again, this is what he got... either way, a moderately fertile imagination makes this photogrph come alive. No negative comments here!!! Link to comment
touchel berne 0 Posted January 31, 2003 My feeling about this is that it might be a bit too opaque. I'm unable to form any connection between the theme and what appears to be a man laying on concrete next to a small, dead chicken. At least I think it's a chicken. So, as a fairly sophisticated viewer of photography and contemporary art, I have to say that it doesn't really work for me if you are trying to illustrate a theme. It works if it's only meant to be an opaque and mysterious image. I DO LIKE IT, in case that's not clear. Link to comment
jon w. 0 Posted August 11, 2003 Isn't it a bird chick that's fallen out of the nest and died? That would make sense of the title anyway. But what about the guy with the sunglasses? He might be there just for juxtaposition, or for scale, but I don't think he's especially interesting. I think there is a lot of potential in this and many other pictures you have taken. For your hands and faces project, you should look at the 'anonymous portraits' Walker Evans shot on the subway - same idea, and same problem/theme of repetition (whehter on sees it as a problem dependson whether one thinks the concept is inherently interesting).
