lonebearimages 0 Posted September 13, 2007 Rosanne, I really like this shot a lot. The diagonal of the stream through the frame, the wonderful golden light, and the reflection of the aspens (?) in the stream. I wonder if the composition could be improved with a bit of cropping? What about a crop on the right side to eliminate the bright bare patch in the upper right corner; and then crop up to just below the stream on the bottom? Hold pieces of paper up and see what you think. Let me know what you think. Keep up the great work, you've got some great images in your portfolio. Cheers! Chris Link to comment
rosanne 0 Posted September 14, 2007 Chris thank you for the suggestions. I have attached my photo cropped as you suggested. It does look better without the bright white area. I always appreciate constructive criticism. Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted September 14, 2007 Yup! That's it, Rosanne, IMHO that's the crop. The question is, do you like it? My eye just gravitated to that stream of reflected 'gold' running through the composition and I wanted to really emphasize that. For myself, I spend a lot of time trying to set up a shot through the viewfinder, and then I probably spend as much time fussing around on the PC trying different crops. I really do wish that I could 'see' these things more clearly before I trip the shutter - LOL! Anyway, great work, keep it up! Cheers! Chris Link to comment
lonebearimages 0 Posted September 14, 2007 As to the two versions, I personally prefer the first cropped version. Cheers! Chris Link to comment

cszmurlo 0 Posted September 19, 2007 A good eye as always. Nice warm light complements the dynamic of the diagonal. Link to comment
