Known as the Traveller's Tree of Madagascar, the leaves are fan shaped and grows to 7 to 8 metres. One reason often cited for the tree's unusual name is that these two-sided trees supposedly point east/west. But a more likely explanation is that each stem contains four pints of liquid, which could be life-saving for a traveler in the wild.

Inpiration received from the images of Spencer Jimmie Lee & Cherlyn.

Lovely image and accompanying explanation. "The world is so full of a number of things, I'm sure we should all be as happy as kings" (R.L. Stevenson)

Hi Amal, thanks for mentioning my name :-) as one of your inspiration. We are all here to share our sights & knowlege. Very interesting info of this Traveller's Tree that stores liquid. Never knew that. Do you have a picture of the full tree?

Cherlyn, I shot a small portion of the tall tree to capture the weaving pattern. I do not have any image of the whole tree. I shall send you one.
