evrim_icoz 0 Posted May 17, 2002 This is from a salsa performance. What do you think? Link to comment
elisabet 0 Posted May 17, 2002 Congratulations for the composition. Strange salsa, though... Link to comment
darrenmambo 0 Posted May 17, 2002 I'd crop in tighter on the dancers - Those people on the right having a side conversation don't really add anything... Link to comment
wcroninger 0 Posted May 17, 2002 But then, I'm a sucker for a good dance photograph!! Congratulations Link to comment
chris_myers2 0 Posted May 17, 2002 I really like the form and contrast between the two dancers. Her white gown and his black vest and trousers really make them both stand out. I agree with Darren, however that it should be cropped tighter. Nice to see human forms like this clothed for a change. Leaves more for appreciation methinks.... Link to comment
oxy 0 Posted May 17, 2002 I think the new crop works. Great timing my friend! Hehe that's hardcore salsa though! Never seen that step in any of the local parties here in Puerto Rico. Link to comment
hexenwolfe 0 Posted May 17, 2002 New crop is MUCH better! The line is better, the muscularity of the thigh within the satin gown is more noticeable. The conflict between the dominance of the male and the implied submission of the muscular female is very dramatic. You could even go a little further and crop the bottom right under the shoes. The empty floor in the foreground does not add much. Link to comment
evrim_icoz 0 Posted May 17, 2002 Thanks guys, I am a salsa dancer too and I really like the dynamic between Rico and his partner. I agree, new crop is much better. Link to comment
evrim_icoz 0 Posted May 17, 2002 So I played with it a bit more, similar to how I would like it in the first place? Link to comment
hexenwolfe 0 Posted May 17, 2002 You turned a 7 into a 9.5 with the cropping and softening of the background. What was a nice medium shot is now an action photo with IMPACT! This is an excellent lesson for photgraphers at all levels. Nice work. Link to comment
sara_flores1 0 Posted May 18, 2002 The 2 people on the right of the photo are cut in half, a little distracting. Maybe crop them out altogether? Otherwise I love this photo. Just noticed the new crop, much better! I don't care for the new blured baskground, i like it better sharp. Link to comment
jerrymat 5 Posted May 18, 2002 Tremendous moment caught! This could go on the cover of a chiropractors' monthly. My only suggestion is that you might crop out the two guys on far right background to strengthen the composition. Link to comment
dennis_sloan 0 Posted May 18, 2002 The Man & Woman have beautiful form, I like the version with the right side cropped out & the backround blurred. Link to comment
mike_sea 0 Posted May 18, 2002 The instant down sde to this otherwise nice shot came when me eye naturally followed the dancers arm and ran straihght into the people in the background. I found this very distracting. The people seated on the left aren't as much of a distraction to the shot. You seem to have enough room to crop them out without taking from the shot. Link to comment
