Airport chick

carl_dange

Not a montage, no retouching. Bad detail=cheap scanner. Done in an airport with the security guys after us, they caught up after 20 minuntes but not before I got MY SHOT. Luggage purchased specially for the shot.

This shot makes for an interesting commentary on the current state of hightened security in our nations airports. As a passenger, you practically feel strip searched these days. This "airport chick" has nothing to hide. Would have been REAL interesting if she had a leg holster and gun strapped to her thigh in plain view. Aesthetically: I like the high contrast, but I think it needs some more detail in the floor at the bottom edge and above the monitors to make the glowing white screens stand out even more.

Not sure how you grabbed this shot, unless, possibly, it's a montage, but it works extremely well. Lighting -- and, sure, it's been worked on, etc. -- is brilliant. You get an A for a smart, sexy image.

Who gave you six. This shot has so much style, the lighting balance of light and dark, and the fact the shot is empty makes this high profile photo even more exceptional for a dash n shoot. This is an absolute portfolio piece Carl. Excelent exposure composition fashion n style. Yeesh I could rave about it all day! I wish it was medium format so u could blow it up to a poster, you should be very proud.

Umm...... I'll add another 6 for aesthetics, maybe should of even been a 5. I did give it a 9 for originality. I don't see how anyone can rate this a 10 for aesthetics. Unfortunately, it's a clumsy execution of a truly original idea.

I'd have to disagree. The idea itself is not too original -- Helmut Newton, hell -- but the execution is terrific. And if it's not a montage (and, again, I don't care), how about a 10++ for bravado?!

Well, the figure is centrally placed, and the picture is burned out and there is no definition where you wish to see it ..and .... but who cares. This is a FABULOUS picture. It's what glamour/fashion/nude photography is all about. I have never produced anything close to a photo as worthwhile as this. Of course it merits a 10/10. John

As photographers, I think that we base our judgments very largely on the impact that a photo has. I have already pointed out that technically speaking, the photo is lacking strongly. But don't you think that tremendous credit should be given to someone that goes for that special or original picture? A large number of people can perfect "technique" and we can see a large number of perfectly taken pictures on this site. Quite often though, they do not have very much to say and they can even be boring. This photo is courageous, inspired, unusual, entertaining and even has a touch of erotism to it. People are looking at the photo and are discussing it. "Impact factor" equals 10 - and that's what good photography is all about.

Is this a comment on the new secturity measures? I like the brashness of the image.

Very creative idea, well done. The only thing I would attempt to change is the somewhat distracting background in the sign she is reading. Perhaps a different angle. By the way, John Peri, I think you consistently under-rate your own efforts.

I just love this photo, It is sooo sexy to my senses. Love her pose, the place and now that i know that you actually run away from the guards to take it, make my soul vibrate. Excellent work!

I agree on almost everything John wrote, I want to add that if a very original, daring, provokin etc photo is also technically perfect then you have it, you can score 20/10. But also Dave is right, John i love your work, you have an incredible portfolio too!

at least something on this site which tries to be be a bit different in terms of subject. i assume it would look better on paper as you say this is a poor scan. Now i quite like the 4 burned screens which seem to say "the choice is yours, all destinations available" ! And the pose of the girl is charming...

Too harsh contrast, model lost in the center background. I'd prefer if she was either left or right of center.
