This is my first attempt at photographing only a small part of a

building. I was interested in the lines and curves of this

particular staircase outside of St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal.

Please let me know what you think of this picture aesthetically.

very nice composition, very soothing to look at. The light tones on the left and dark tones on the right give the picture a very even visual weight, feels balanced (based on the theory that dark tones are visually heavier than light).

This is indeed a very nice scene. Got everything I like in photographing. Lines, curves, light, shadow, stairs and windows. Then the grey contrasted by the blue. The one thing I does not like is the tree. Nature is sometimes so disturbing. Just kidding.

Very good angle, however, these beatuful lines would create a much more abstract composition if you would chhose a tighter frame, with the stairway only, no sky at all...

I think the framing is perfect. I like it alot. The only thing I would have done different is use a polarizer, but that is just preference.
