erol_ata___nyc__nj 0 Posted May 14, 2002 Nice angle. The hair blowing adds a lot to this composition. Who is the women? Link to comment
mircea_strugaru 0 Posted May 14, 2002 Her name is Corina, my gf. She doesn't like wind at all that's why her eyes were down and she didn't notice me taking the shot. We were on the coast of the Adriatic sea, in Croatia, Krk. A beautiful city... Link to comment
jillmyers 0 Posted May 14, 2002 Cool shot. I love the composition and movement. I agree about the glasses though...they take away from the surreal feel. Link to comment
dodi 0 Posted May 14, 2002 This is the version without glasses, done in photoshop, so we can see the difference with and without glasses. Link to comment
timo_laaksonen 0 Posted May 14, 2002 I think the picture works with glasses and without them all the same. I realy like the compostion of this picture, maybe because I dont like rules :) Link to comment
joostvanbuul 0 Posted May 14, 2002 SUPER!!! one of the most beautiful pictures in days according to me. Very mysterious:-)) Meaby the glasses part should be away but why bother, its there and it is real Link to comment
dodi 0 Posted May 14, 2002 Well, I still don't like the glasses...:-). the reason being that it doesn't really fit in the context of the rest of the picture. It's a dreamy shot, with soft background, soft breeze in the hair, the softness of the looks of the girl. But the eye gets attracted to the shiny glasses and wakes you up too rude out of that dreamy feeling. The shiniest parts being closest to the beautiful closed eye enforces this. Can't explain it better. I doubt it would stand large enlargement without the unsharpness on the girls face becoming too much distracting, that's why I rated it 8 and not 10, but I could be wrong. Nevertheless, even with glasses it remains an excellent photo. I like it very much. I think it should be POW, but who am I to decide ... Link to comment
wind.dk 0 Posted May 14, 2002 I like this one. Don't mind the glasses, quite the contrary, I think they add a touch of realism to it, which I prefer. Sort of making her an individual rather than merely a compositional element. It might be better though, if they were not quite as bright and sharp. That would also overcome the problem of disappearing detail and structure which the photoshopped versions suffer from in a direct comparison. I will have to look at this again on a real monitor rather than this LCD display. Link to comment
dodi 0 Posted May 14, 2002 LCD's are lethal for pictures ;). Couldn't get it better from the reduced size original in photoshop.I leave it to the author to give it a try from the fullsize original. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted May 14, 2002 I really like this composition, congrats -- good eye, good timing Link to comment
mircea_strugaru 0 Posted May 15, 2002 Thank you all for your interest. I really appreciate all your comments and ratings, even the 1/1 rating...here are more details about this picture: In the large original file, the picture is tack sharp on the hair in the middle-left part. Unfortunately the picture is quite soft on the eye of the girl but this was caused by the DOF. I needed a large aperture since the day wasn't that bright and the film was ISO 100. About the eyglasses: I'm happy that I didn't remove them in Photoshop since they generated such an interesting argument! :). But finally I agree the picture would look better (what is better?) without them. However, for me, the photographer, this would make the picture less valuable...anyway I feel guilty about making it B&W from a superia 100 scan... :) Link to comment
ricardojmendez 0 Posted May 17, 2002 Love the sense of movement here. I personally don't have a problem with the glasses, they direct your sight and make you think she's looking at something (instead of just dozing off). The b/w version is clearly superior than the original in color, in my opinion. Link to comment
rustys pics 3 Posted May 21, 2002 Hello! I like the shot better in black & white, but it looks good in color too. The composition is strong so the color does not detract much. The black & white image seems more mysterious and cinematic. This is one of the best photos of the day, hope to see more of your work. Link to comment
uccemebug 0 Posted May 21, 2002 I like it! Very interesting shot, perfectly timed. And FWIW, I too prefer the b + w version. Link to comment
mfshadow 0 Posted June 5, 2002 Wonderful image! (except for the blurred-out background obscuring the texture of the hair) Link to comment
vonsh 0 Posted August 6, 2002 the composition and flow of this pic ... are superb. I like the version without the glasses ... thanks for sharing Link to comment

przemyslawszot 0 Posted October 26, 2002 Great image, but I would give it a higher rating if it were not for the glasses. They seem to distruct the image. Link to comment
studio5nine 0 Posted October 27, 2002 Contrast....Yeah baby!! I Like this photo. Because of the detail in her hair it makes seem as if it's layered (two photos) Link to comment
antoine huts - photographi 0 Posted October 30, 2002 Great shot, i just regret the background is so empty. Link to comment
chadsimcox 0 Posted October 31, 2002 It feels like she is very busy and has too much going on in her life to take the time to be photographed. I like this shot alot! Excelent photo Link to comment
rimwalker 0 Posted October 31, 2002 The thing that I don't like abouthis shot is the sunglasses, I find them very distracting. Otherwise it is a great shot. Link to comment
