I think 3 steps closer to that rock is the way i see this image, but this composition with the leading lines in the foreground works very well too.

Thanks Ross, Paulian and Mike, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Paulian, I see your point with moving 3 feet ahead (and in fact have tried it) but I felt that the lines and the little rocks in the FG provided a more powerful anchor than the rock itself. Also to be fair, I couldn't get as close as I wanted because my shoes would have been soaked (which is rarely desirable at 0 degrees :-D). Again, thank you all. Younes
