Danza Sola

This image is OK, but it is missing something. I am not sure I

captured what I had in my minds eye. I was tucked away in the corner

of the balcony, but did not have access to the main floor or a better

perch in the balcony. Too far to really blur background. What would

make it better?

This photo promises and nearly delivers...the composition is at once delicate and strong, the dancer could be more in the fore of the picture were the backlighting adjusted. Very nicely done overall.

thanks so much for the useful critique...there is no backlighting. i only had my sb-600 to light the dancer from approximately 45ft away.

 

I see, I think you are saying this is a completely unedited photo. As such, it is truly exceptional. If you have even a simple photo editing program on your computer, there should be a backlighting feature. Use the backlighting and other editing features of the the program to bring the dancer into the foreground of the picture. The dancer's strong but graceful stance, her facial expression, her hands, and the outline of her head would come through beautifully. Also, cropping out a small portion of the right side of the picture -- it adds nothing, and takes away from that part of the picture which is most appealing, minimizing the overall appeal. Again, a picture very nicely done, and with yet greater potential that can be easily hightlighted through quick and simple editing. Good job!
