arash khoshghadam 0 Posted April 1, 2007 A classic landscape composition with a good deal of atmospheric perspective completed with a terrific sky displaying a great deal of horizontally-oriented movement that could totally invoke a sense of peace and security if it weren't for the energetic orange color which has become discriminatingly powerful since it's the only color present in the frame. The interesting point here is how the upper 2/3 of the frame counteracts against the lower 1/3 in terms of mood- tumult against peace, movement against stagnation, awareness against stupor, warmth against cold. The drawback to put finger on is the eye-sore overexposure on the right which has ruined the smooth ethereal movement by tearing away the viewer's focus from absorption. Ahmed could surely use a Grad. ND filter to reduce the light intensity in that region while keeping a proper exposure for the lower 2/3, or he could apply a DSNDF ( Digital Split Neutral Density Filter) later in PS by combining two differently exposed frames. The undue overexposing light has also killed the contrast and has turned grays lifeless. I have worked a version in which I have added a luminosity mask to reduce the overexposed portion and a DSNDF on top to simulate the actual ND Grad. filter. Link to comment
