Alisha, it's a combo of increasing the contrast, saturation, and changing the blending mode of the layer in photoshop.

Will, this is an INCREDIBLE photo. You have managed to boost saturation, and keep it pleasing.

 

Is this your son? How he has grown. I remember his photos on your website a year ago. Handsome young man! You must be so proud.

Yinka, yes this is my son. This shot was taken a few months ago. The colors are a bit saturated but that's the effect I was going for. I've seen simular shots with children with these colors that just pop and I was attempting to mimick the effect. Take a look at this site if you get a chance:
