toni martin 0 Posted May 9, 2002 The cleverest photo I have ever seen! I just wish you hadn't burned the highlights on the feet out!!! Do it again! Link to comment
nathanael 0 Posted May 9, 2002 This is by far one of the best self-portraits that I've seen not because it is straight forward and bland but creatively done. Images have to jump out at you and this one does the trick. It catches the eye. My eye at least. Link to comment
tony p 0 Posted May 9, 2002 Agree with everything above, plus like that you can't see a reflection of the camera. This is a truly wonderfully original image. Link to comment
michelle_osborn1 0 Posted May 9, 2002 This type of shadow self-portraiture has been done so many times....This one does much better than the typical boring ones I've seen. The feet don't do anything for me, but the shadow, especially the wiggly hand adds great character. Way to go! Link to comment
daniel_estebaranz 0 Posted May 9, 2002 a really nice picture, had the oprotunity to be there when it was taken. and i have to say the real magic of this photo, is that it captured the escense of the photographer, who im a proud to call my best friend of 33 years. a real example of true love to an art. mauricio alcaraz carbia 0 Posted May 10, 2002 Thank you very much everybody for all your comments. It is nice to see how much a simple idea, with a simple camera, a simple lens, a simple scanner, can be so much fun! I love photography for it can speak for each one, our own passion, our jokes, our ideas, our views or personalities (no matter if it´s digital creative or a disposable camera) and still can provoke (sp?) a reaction in someone else. tom_johnston4 0 Posted May 10, 2002 When you asked me to take a look at your shadow portrait, I hoped that it wasn't like so many copies of Ansel Adam's self-portrait that we see so much these days, but I suspected that it would be done with fresh creativity like your other work. But, WOW! What a surprise! This is definitely the best self-portrait of this type I have ever seen. I love the tones and textures and the abstract nature of the shadow really makes this something special. Strangely, there is also something "friendly" about it. As abstract as it is, it actually tells us something about you. Maybe I'm just biased because I know what a nice person you are. Darn it! I wish I had thought of this! Link to comment
fri www.splitlife.com 0 Posted May 11, 2002 this is great, simple and abstract, nicely done! Link to comment
gemccaw 1 Posted May 11, 2002 Not much I can add to what has been already said...except that this image is deserving of all the praise it is getting. You are right, it isn't the equipment that makes the image, it's the eye and heart of the photographer. Link to comment
gustavson 0 Posted May 14, 2002 What can I say but Very Good! The child in me noticed the big feet and the small shadow waving with a big hand. Funny. The only thing I could mention as to improve it is the shadow of someone else sneaking in to your frame in the upper right corner. But, don't let that ruin your day, the picture is wonderful anyway.Congratulations on POW - well deserved. Link to comment
rita_borg 0 Posted January 22, 2003 MY GOD, WHAT A GREAT IDEA! CAN I COPY IT? =0) HEHE.......JUST KIDDING....I STILL MIGHT TRY IT THOUGH ;0) Link to comment
johnlund 0 Posted May 31, 2003 Terrific! (And photo self-portraits usually bore me to death.) The open-fingered hand and feet are nice details, not to mention the great surface you get from the watery sand. I like how the position and angle of the feet gives context and fits with the shadow at the same time. Okay, so the left foot is a little overexposed, but the photo has nice tones otherwise. Guest Guest Posted May 31, 2003 Creative.. but unfortunate for the left foot being washed out.... Overall, I think its good ! I like the composition! Link to comment
tom t 0 Posted July 1, 2003 Very original! How did you do this? How come we don't see the shadow of the camera? One comment - how about cropping to square? Link to comment
