I like it, Carl. I assume it was taken with a fisheye, or something close?

Nice street photo. I hope they didn't get run over.

Cheers

Yes, it's a fisheye, shot from the hip which helps to give it a different perspective.

I think they're standing in a parking area. Not much traffic, in any case.

The fisheye adds a whimsical touch to this thoroughly confused couple. Kind of like a Norman Rockwell picture in that we recognize and respond to the situation intuitively.

Been there done that a few times myself and was nearly run over while trying to figure out where I was (much to the amusement of the locals).

Ma looks fetching in her homemade dress and I love the position of the feet for some reason. The body language tells a thousand tales about a lifetime spent together. Something totally lost on the current generation.

What!...Why is McRichie always getting here first and beating me to all the good words like "whimsical" and "intuitively?"

I like this photograph very much and I am dying to get my hands on a true wide angle lens. I would be sorely tempted to clone out the electric lines if it were mine to butcher but I'm thinking about going into therapy to overcome those urges. I sort of want to crop the sun out too but I learned my lesson about fixing things the other day when I tried to repair the stereo. At least my wife seems happy with the replacement.

I just intuitively knew that we would be subject to another of your famously whimsical comments. I wonder if Carl knows that TWO (2) POW laureates have visited his photo. The gods have decended from the heavens.

. . and both are now recognized experts in this genre. I am truly honored.

I wonder what it is about power lines that cause us all to instinctively reach for the clone tool. I actually like how the warped lines play against the warped curb. (I think his awkward foot position is one of several distortions caused by the fisheye, not the least of which are the folks on the far left fighting an uphill battle.

I've tried it without the sun, but I like the max headroom along with the symbolism.

Those power lines combined with the line of the curb really seem to form the outline of a giant all-seeing eye, with the couple in the center serving as the pupil. It's sort of weird in a way (a good way). I very much like the checkered shirt with the larger checks in the dress in relation to the nearly square shape of the map. It's like a visual party. They are probably trying to figure out why the fishey world they are now a part of does not conform to their square patterned lives.

It takes guts to shoot into the sun with a wide angle lens. I think the sun actually adds an other-worldly feeling to the image. It's a real crackerjack shot.

Totally agree with Jack and Dennis. Shooting from the hip, did you pretty much envision it like this, or were you surprised by the outcome of, say, the overhead lines and curb?

Cheers,

Aaron

Mostly I was delighted that I didn't cut off their heads or feet. Such are the standards of hip shooting. (actually I cropped off the bottom a bit.)

The curb and power line embrace them in a very good way. Car other lines and people are in tune. Greetings.
