Jake's foot

r.glynn

My son's foot, minutes after his birth. I found this film recently and developed it, after 11 years of sitting in a drawer, to find this shot. If I had realised it was this old I would have increased the time & taken more care. I've spotted it & cropped it to try to get the best out of v. thin neg.

My son's foot minutes after his birth. This film lay undeveloped for

about 11 years when I found it. I hadn't realised how old the film

was and was grateful to get any images from it. If I had realised how

old it was I would have overdeveloped but as it was I simply

developed as per instructions and tried correcting the very thin neg

using Photoshop. Also spotted out spots & scratches.

Good idea, but it's too grainy for me and the composition is a little awkward. Thanks you for the opportuity to think about it and comment.

Thanks for your comment M. The grain doesn't bother me too much but I would have prefered to have got the toes in sharper focus. I would have prefered a less fussy shot also. I am proud of it but probably because I am amazed that I managed to take any photos at all as I know how hectic and intense the home birth was. I have no recollection of the specific shots though remember firing the cameras. This gave me a buzz when I spotted it on the negs and the print still does.
