giuseppe_miriello1 0 Posted June 5, 2007 i would have never though about that. I had speculated this might be a long exposure with soapy water but not milk!! now that i see it in this context, the face on top left make perfect sense - photographically speaking; the image gives an uncomfortable feeling, both because of the "drowning" face and because of the intruding leg on the right, speaking of which, i wouldn't crop... it helps conveying a "uncomfortable feeling" life someone else was there watching, it is also very close on the right third, so it unbalances the face just the needed bit. congratulations on taking this image Monika, really creative thinking here. alexb_paris 0 Posted June 6, 2007 yes less is more but I still think that keeping the leg was a good idea.. Also I'd like to know how the picture was before post processing. Anyhow the result is very interesting and beautifully executed. On top of including so successfully the leg (which might seem against the "rules" of photography but for this picture is I think key to the balance and putting into the context the rest of the shot) I like the details of what we can see of the face, especially the hair which make a kind of drawing and the exclusion of the eyes to add some mystery and minimalism.. inmaon 0 Posted June 6, 2007 5/5. I think that the leg is very out of place in this picture and I can not give it more than that. Drop the leg and it?s another picture... Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted June 9, 2007 Now that I have found out how you did this, I have to say that I am very impressed. The facial image is priceless, and the leg is needed for balance, in my opinion. What great work! --Lannie Link to comment
mario2 0 Posted June 11, 2007 In my opinion the image is great, perhaps if don't show a portion of her leg,the mistery atmosphere would be beter, but in any case will be another image/version.Congratulations Monika Link to comment
atlatling 4 Posted June 11, 2007 Needs cropping, I think. Crop the top almost to the top of the head to eliminate the side of the bath tub in the upper right corner, and an equal amount from the bottom which adds nothing to the picture - just extends the view of the leg which is identifiable anyway with that small crop. This makes it a landscape photograph shape. I see that I am not with the crowd again on my views of the POW. I really think, regardless of how inventive the photograph, if it doesnl't appeal to me I wouldn't want to display it on my wall. This is one of those. That being said, I admire anyone who makes a photograph which attracts the elves eye. I congratulate you on that success. Willie the Cropper Link to comment
evita_m 0 Posted June 12, 2007 If you crop you loose depth, you squeeze her, I don't see the point of cropping at all. She floats, needs space, my thoughts need space... Link to comment
mg 0 Posted June 25, 2007 Wow, yess ! What a brilliant idea and framing, Monika. Congrats. A very well deserved POW imo. Nothing I'd like to change. Just great. Link to comment
sunt.ioan 0 Posted August 2, 2007 i think i would have liked it better with only the head in it... no leg there... Link to comment

cynthiabowers 0 Posted October 15, 2007 Love it! It is both beautiful and erie. The duality creates a feeling of both fear and wanting to relax in the warm murky milk waters. Wonderful creativity. Leaves me wanting to know what happens next. Link to comment
andrew tan 0 Posted April 12, 2008 Absolutely do not crop out the leg. Just the floating face itself would be very weird and have no context. This is a great but oddly disturbing shot! Link to comment
philipward 0 Posted February 2, 2010 Great surreal shot Monika. One of my favourites.I also wonder about cropping out the leg and going from square to radical verticle format. It may make it a little disturbing to some but it is abstract after all.Just my thoughts. What a wonderfull portfolio you have also. mg 0 Posted April 13, 2010 Hello Monika, and heatfelt congratulations - not for this lovely POW anymore, but for this :http://www.thespiderawards.com/gallery5/gallery.php?x=a&cid=40&g=wI just saw it (as well as your other nomination) and couldn't resist leaving an additional comment on this page. It's great to see Photonetters liked this before it got a much wider (and well deserved) recognition !Keep on going, your work is really great !Best regards. Link to comment
gonaloruizesquide 0 Posted July 24, 2010 i agree, dramatic, expressive, creative.very well done, i would keep the leg, too, since it gives me a bit of context and adds dinamism to the composition (that is i'd keep it if i took the photo, wich i couldn't do in a million years...)! you are an artist indeed Link to comment
and 0 Posted May 26, 2014 In my view many top rated pics in this category are artistically mediocre at best. This one is an exception. Link to comment
