PLEASE LOOK AT LARGE VERSION to appreciate the astonishing work on this portal. Normally

in a cathedral, there would not be so fine and ornate a portal on the north side, but Chartres

is an exception.

Sure is a classic Cathedral, Dennis. Over 50 years since I was there.

You captured much detail, but for me, a bit more contrast(which darkens it somewhat) and then some positive Gamma to bring it back to the lighter tones, seemed to work.

I had it up Full Screen, with a neat little utility in the Tool Bar. I'll add the link, as it is much more useful than the LARGER button, It's called EASY READ, and is great on any web page. Also available from the Context Menu, if you hide your Tool Bar.

... appreciate it very much. I have to admit that I still don't get the images right for general distribution. I have a very nice Apple monitor which I try to calibrate, but somehow it never looks the same on the web. Getting closer, though. I like your version, and may try to redo my version and replace it. I use Lightroom, which I absolutely am thrilled by. Have one main workflow/database tool now and it makes my life so much simpler. BTW, liked your portfolio very much when I discovered it earlier.

UPDATE: Doug, took your advice and reposted the image. Hope you like this better, I personally think it is a big improvement.

Such a pity the image is croped and without the top of the portal :(

Astonishing work indeed. You captured very well the details.

... but I was up against the wall across the street and ran completely out of room. I had hoped to pick up traces of the polychrome painting on the arches, but they are not really visible. Thanks for the comments.
