Amazingly captured, Keith. I love it. Great sharpness and very neat image. I like Andrew's version too. It is not only directing viewer to the spark, but also eliminating the OE spot at top of the image. Both versions are very nicely composed.

It is good as it is, doesn't need cropping! Beautiful colors!

That's really great. I mean both the idea and the shot itself. Usual object- unusual picture. All the colours are superb, and the spark looks more than cool. I hope you're not angry if I try to copy your idea some day.

I have two "How" questions:

- How nuch power did you supply to the other end; and

- How did you apply the power?

Ive had quite a few people ask me "how did you do it", this is roughly what I did. First the spark plug was clamped on to a bar attached to a tripod so that it couldnt move. To get the power to it I used a modified coil pack, off a car, that had a circuit board attached to it to supply a continuous spark as though it was reving at 4000rpm. This was wired up to a car battery and a remote starter so that I could turn it on as and when I wanted. Oh and absolutely everything was earthed/grounded just to be on the safe side,as there was approximately 30000volts going through it I thought it was better to be safe than sorry, so bear this in mind if you try to do this as it gives off one hell of a wallop if you happen to touch something unawares. Just a matter then of pressing the remote starter to get the plug fired up and clicking away with the camera till I got something decent.
