This is a beuatiful portrait! All technical aspects aside, (which you've nailed), this moment you've captured is emotionally captivating to say the least. Great job.

What's not to like here Ger?

Great white in the eye's... Your usual high contrast, nice smooth skin tones, the whispy hair coming up onto her face, and a great expression.

This is such a good photo, I think you should put down the duster, grab a Pint, and drink to the rain!

Sound advice...I've decided at this point there is so much junk in here its a 2 day job so duster is down and toasting the rain..I'm so hoping it clears up tomorrow there is a fireworks display in Dublin tomorrow night, the biggest fireworks display in europe ever and I'm planning on setting up my equipment about 8 miles away on the coast looking into Dublin..If its windy, cloudy and rainy that is that photography project scuppered.

For the image I think it is because I cut it too close to the top of the head.

I like this one a lot, Ger. To me it's both expressive as a portrait and it also almost becomes an abstract of shapes and light because of the close cropping. That may be what's disturbing you and it IS a little disturbing but I love being disturbed by a photo! Of course, she's not my daughter and that will have to be a personal thing for you. Her look away is very severe as is the treatment you've given this, all of which add up to a quite strong and unusual (unusual in the best way) image.
