In the Netherlands people always send cards around to realives and

friends to announce their baby is born. They then tell info such as

the birthdate, -weight en -time.

Now there's a trend in using a photograph from their pregnant body

(or sometimes from the newborn baby) add text to the photo and print

it as a photo and send it as it is. How about you?

Melanie, we don't do much of the sending pregnancy announcement cards here in Australia. We generally like to shout it from the rooftops ;)

I like this capture. I really like the composition and crop. However, do you think the image might look cleaner if some of the bottom frame was cropped? Personally, I find the 'darkness' of the shadow and pubic area does not quite gel with the 'lightness' of the rest of the frame.

Just my thoughts... M :)

adorable original photo than can only be done when a woman has two babies... one right after the other. i love it! I do agree on trying a crop just below the toes where the underbelly gets darker. baby announcements are very popular here in the states and it is a big part of my photography business. see my samples attached, but having pregnancy pictures on the announcement has not become popular here yet as I find women to be too self concious, but I'm sure it will become more of a trend as prego pics have become over the years. :-)

What a precious and sweet capture. You have done a lovely job here. I agree with the crop idea also. This is still such a beautiful B&W. Keep up the good work.

Hi there,

thanx for all the comments, so quickly also! I uploaded a baby-birth-card as well, and yes, it's true that this kind of photography is done pretty often, but not so common for a announcementcard, although here in NL it's more and more done. BTW the line at the bottom had an extra line on the original, which said the address of the family, but I erased this info so I can publish the card. (Ike's card)
