I came over to check out the work of the person who rated my photo. I thought maybe you'd have something good up and I could contribute a decent rating or maybe even give you some feedback.

I didn't expect to find a 7/7. Holy Wow. You really have a talent. Beautiful.

I love the way the sky looks. I could be wrong, but it looks a bit underexposed, too. It looks good, the way everything is just a silhouette.

The people, the overcast sky, the dark water, and the boats in the background all combine to tell a moody tale. Well done.

its a great shot on its own but the post processing is a big distraction to me because it calls attention to itself and is in opposition to the naturalness of the scene. is it really necessary? you have such fine positions in all the people and the composition is excellent. was it so terrible before that you had to do this? I can't image that it could be.

Avner, fabulous photo! The feeling and content are so sublime. It is a heavenly photograph. I looked at your original and I actually think it's even better than what you've come up with. Although putting the people in sillhouette is effective and eye-catching, I think the photo would last longer over time and reach people at more of a gut level if they could make out more detail in the people's faces, as you can in the original. I also think the foggy nature of the original was great and the burning of the sky in this version is a little heavy-handed. I think with very subtle processing, the original would be magnificent. Keep experimenting, though, because, as you say, that is how we learn. Ultimately it is you who has to be pleased with your final result. And regardless of the processing, the image you saw, composed, and captured here will always stand out as a very special creation.

may be I have strange taste, I am sure I do in fact, but I prefer the darkened version, because this story is not about people in detail but about their existance and movement in their environment, and to me the faces would be distracting from it. To me this scene had to be dramaticized to be centered, to reveal its emotional charge, altogether I think it gives an air more of unity within the group. Excellent image and original treatment as always with your images with the goal of telling a story and transmitting a feeling and this is accomplished wonderfully.

Avner, good observation. If you do want to work on the sky, and you're doing it in photoshop, I might recommend adjusting your levels a bit before using the burn tool, also working with lighting filters. You get a more even effect. The burn tool can be harder to work with as it is often hard to keep it subtle and even.

Avner, I like this version quite much, but I also feel that this might benefit from a little more processing. The original is also great, but by finding the right level of darkening, it definitely get`s more "punch" into the image.

I like both images. The original shows what you saw. The latter shows what you felt. What needs to be done is how to show both views - without making viewers focus on how the picture was made, but instead make viewers focus on its message.

The lighting in this image is so exquisite I wanted to give you a 7, but alas, the system wouldn't take it. I'll wait the 14 days rather than not follow my heart. This is simply brilliant.

Excellent photo Avner. Everything is beautiful, the composition, the lights, the people and the boats at the background, all in perfect harmony. Congrats. 7/7

You have many comments so I will try and not repeat. from my perspective, I think there is a 2nd shot here: the right side of the photo but cropping just the tallest mast of the boats and including on the left, the lady holding her pan/basket just above the water. On that 2nd photo the people (circular form is visually appealing) and the form of the waves are appealing to me.

Thanks for stopping by on one of my photos.
