Will,

I think this is an excellent photo. THe lighting is just perfect, the pose is wonderful, the colors are vibrant. They look so happy, so in love.

I would not change a thing!

Could you please give some information?

Best wishes

Yinka

Pleasantly relaxed couple, honest expression of mutually felt emotions. Although this is not my genre, I would understand the hardest part would be to have the subjects look "real". You have achieved this with excellance.

Will, I love that background! The exposure on the lady's shoulder is blowing out, but I am certain that you can fix that. Nice overall color.

Good portrait. I should try doing something like this one day. Regards.

Thankds Pete and Pawel. Hi Walt. Thanks for your comments. Yeah, I do agree that her jacket is blown in some parts, but I can live with that as long as thier skin is properly exposed. I find portaits just as challenging as landscapes for different reasons.

"Switching key and fill, or switching their position will help retain detail in highlight"

Now why didn't I think of that? Great tip. Thanks Wilson.

Long time no comment from me, sorry. Studio images are so hard to capture a natural expression. Most subjects are trained from birth to give the "cheese cake" smile :) You've captured them well. I love her dimple & the twinkle in both their eyes.

I agree with Walter about her shoulder being a little blown, but easily fixed. The only other thing is the shine down the middle of his forehead. It creates a line. I have found that men (especially my husband who has very little hair) tend to shine. Refusing to have powder applied, I just have to be very careful with the lights. I generally use one soft-box as the main, facing them, & then another soft-box to add the fill. It helps, but does not always cure this problem :)

Just as a note as to why I've been rather absent. I've been remodeling a new studio for the last 3 months, it's almost done. I'll take some new pictures & post them. While I'm tired of the day to day, it's going to be beautiful & efficient. Plus, It's basically in my own backyard. I just can't wait!

Jayme, it's so nice to hear from you. I was wondering why you haven't come by. I thougt I was getting on your nerves by asking so many questions.

CONGRATS on the studio! I wish I had a studio. I took this shot and some others at my church. I created a photo directory and used the time to shoot some portraits. I will hopefully build a studio in my next house.

Thanks for the tips. I look forward to seeing some pics of your new studio.

For me this is a bit too sweet, sort of american-like, too much chrome and cubic inches, if you get my point. I also think that basically you should've swapped the light direction. Now he's got the symmetric glam and she has the side light. Still, definitely a good pair portrait despite my personal view.

...."sort of american-like." That's a pretty european thing to say. I didn't know only Americans were sweet. I can see your point about the light.

Well, may be not the best choice of words, but I guess you figured out what I meant. But like I said, it's definitely a good one despite my preferences.
