I am quite confused as to what is really going on in this photograph. While the man and his family seem to be the intended subject, the woman in the background is where my eye goes to first. She seems to be shouting at someone out of the scene, which is rather confusing.

There just doesn't seem to be one definative moment in this photograph.

Brian, the woman in the background is the mother of the three kids on the bicycle, holding in her arms the fourth child. I know that because I heard her giving the kids some last minute instructions. She is holding her hand that way because some VESPAS made a terrible noise - amplified by the narrow street - and she wanted to make sure she was heard by her kids. I took four shots of this scene (this one was the first) and while the father pushed the bicycle with the kids, getting away from the mother, the mother kept waving at them.

Anton,

This is a great moment you captured, but the story does get lost in the clutter. Maybe it would work better as a vertical crop, losing everything left of the boy's red jacket and everything right of the shouting woman. It also doesn't help that, for the most part, they're all wearing dark clothing, but there's nothing you could do about that. Also, maybe it's just me, but the focus seems a little soft. It might pop more if it were a little sharper.

Everyone seems to be listening to the mother except the dad (happens that way in the U.S. too). I think a much tighter crop would work too in alleviating the clutter and focusing more on the people.
