On second thought - at first I said WOW - but shouldn't there be a lighter area immediately around the sun? Is the 'sun' photoshopped into the pic by any chance? Just wondering. :)

No, there is nothing like that. This is the scene as I saw it. However, the contrast is so large that I merged theree images **obtained from one unique RAW** photo, to get a bit more detail in the dark areas. I used the approach described in "The luminous landscape". I'll post the original unprocessed photo so that you can compare. You will see that I cropped and rotated a bit the image. Thanks for your comment.
