This is a remarkable image. . I like the foreground figure in a bold and passionate stance contrasted with the mysterious undefined figure in the background. . good choice of b&w for this high contrast image. .

Pnina, you did it again ! You have the eye and the technics for continuously presenting to us photos of very expressive scenes. There is a coherence in your compositions that immediately impose on the viewer feelings and sensations like tenderness and violence. Your dance photos include in that sense a series of masterly made pieces of photographical art. Pnina, I know that I repeat myself, and I don?t try to make you blush, but I still struggle to express my viewpoint on the quality of your production in my limited international English...

Looking at this particular photo, I don't follow your title as guide, but see immediately the fist with a background of lace. Already in this detail you transmit the contrast of messages that is the general subject of the scene. The light on the breast and the strange sharp and bright head decoration leads the eye toward a graceful but also forceful gesture of the right hand of the dancer that prepares us for the blur of the "ghost" behind. That the right arm furthermore embraces the torso of the ghost, adds to the strangeness of the scene. Applause from the public !

Thanks to all of you for your written impressions.

Anders, thanks especially for your extensive impressions. It is a very nice way of letting me know that the image was worth taking. I think that art is created as a way of communication between people. your writing and my reading is our communication as two human being, through the art.

I'm very grathful to you, and all the others that are taking the time to write to me.

This is again a wonderful shot in the dancers' series. The blurred figure-ghost in the background adds to the atmosphere of mystery and tension. Excellent in B&W.

I won't add too much into that discussion. I just wanna say this is a great power photo - gesture, dynamics, shades and light... Great capture Pnina.

Dearest Pnina, This image is truly a gem that is so precious. Picture like this cannot be rated. It's a collection. It's priceless. Anyway, I'm also discouraged by those 3/3 rating. By now they carry no more weight to me. I simply take it as default. Keep going my dear, Sometime when I feeling very down, your portfolio lift me up. Thank you for being my inspiration and truly glad to have a friend like you. Shalom Shalom :0)

It is such a strong composition -

and such an unlucky position of her fist exactly on his face...

( ...the profane part of me speaking :-))

Pnina,

First of all the comments and discussion on this is image is a worthwhile read. You really know how to draw people out both with your skillful work and charming communication.

I square format is a lovely choice and only makes this composition more bold. As Anders mentioned, it is sometimes difficult to express exactly the strong feelings I have for an image and this is one of those. This has managed to combine a series of complex achievements without becoming cumbersome. Such as the overlapping interplay of figures. Both on different planes, focus, and position. The movement of one is frozen, the other in transition. Your composition has blended both into one composition in a perfect dance. An excellent image to study.

Kent, thanks a lot for your nice and interesting evaluation. It looks that each of us that take his art work seriously find the subjects to excell in them. when I look at your work and Jacks as an examples I ask myself how have you observed them? I enjoy looking at them and understand them , but I know that I will never be good in that kind of subjects. On the other hand I try to experience Many subjects of the medium, but the arts of the stage, especially the dance, theater/dance speaks to me and flow in my blood stream...

So that is probably the answer. The ability to transfer your feelings to the viewer when you create your work from very deep within yourself.

Thanks again Kent.
