Thanks, Pierre-Yves. Yep, that was unfortunate - I may go and try this guy again, probably will use my 70-200mm at full zoom and see if blurring out the background more will help any in making it stand out more.

I'm going to disagree (respectfully) with the first commenter. I think it's fantastic that the background is the same colour as the birds head. It adds an element of suprise that you don't often see in bird images and it makes that eye really stand out which draws the eye to the head anyway. And then I really marvel at that green! I've never seen such beautiful feathers! Therefore the composition really works for me - it's different and I like that.
