The Stare

I got a bunch of shots of this bird and the rest that were hanging

around this leveled lot. Soon to be a home but these guys looked

upset.

I think the composition is too centered and there is too much foreground distraction. Centered can be ok for a portrait, but there lots of space around the bird. Cropping close in on the bird, cutting out the power lines lots of sticks, the smudge in the sky, etc. Would make this a stronger image. It looks like the core image, the bird is in sharp focus and in a interesting pose, I think you just need to get in closer.

I have to change this real quick and then tell me what you think. I could crop out all the branches.

The clouds and the bird make this photo seem semi-surreal, almost painterly and very beautiful. I do like the cropped version, but then you take out a lot of the cloud that creates the well-fitting backdrop for the bird:)

I do recognize the smudge as well and ill do another crop.

I like the crop better, and I would go even tighter if you've got enough pixels. The sky isn't adding too much...but it does look much better.
