Wanted to try something a bit different.

Is it too dark on the far side?

Yes, I agree with the last comment. I really do like it, but the white stripe is the first thing that you see, and I spent ages trying to work out what it was? I love how you have lighted the subject though and the red coat is a great contrast against the 'dark'.

Yea, amazing how you don't see your errors until pointed out to you and then THAT IS ALL YOU CAN SEE!!

I don't have a problem with the red coat... Just the white line on her hood... It seems painted in. I love the expression, and of coarse the contrast. Very great use of DOF.

 

So... When's dinner? LOL!

Hey, Ger, this is wonderful. It's a kid's portrait that's not all cute and typical. It's a very creative and artistic approach. I think your perspective is good, the cropping is intimately close, and she's caught right in the middle of something. Red jacket, great. White line, problem. Dark far side could have a bit more detail. Those last three technical points much less important than what you have so well accomplished here.
