I do like this image but the top 1/8 of it is really bothering me... it does not look right.. to dark compared to the rest of it and the blue is not right.... other than that it is a wonderful capture.

This is awesome Greg. You've got a really nice and varied portfolio. I remember you were one of my flickr faves back a while ago. Glad I still get to see your work!

Thanks mucho to you all! And three times to you Matt!

John, this effect is from my polarizer which I needed to reduce the glare from the lake surface. I normally kind of like this polarizer effect, but do agree with you on this image that it can be a bit much...I had considered cropping a little but the upper clouds I feel are an essential part to the effect I wanted to achieve with this shot. I do hope to play around with this part of the image though.

Laurent, thanks for the comments on this photo and my portfolio...I'm flattered you remember me from flickr :)

Hey Greg, this is wonderful, I think really made by the just-long-enough exposure of the breaking wave. Did you take any other shots without so much polarizer? The thin air that high up is very strongly polarized, and the WA greatly amplifies the effect. The water surface, which you mention, looks quite good, but the sky is going a little crazy :)

Thanks so much Kurt! I think I was pretty dedicated in my polarizer that night and don't think I have any without it (and am kicking myself for being so stubborn) but I'll have to review all my shots to be sure. I recall this was the only one that had the cloud and water patterns as they do - your spot on when it comes to the elevation and polarizer though. I haven't had a chance to revisit this shot, but I think this scan can be color corrected.

You surprise me using film! Fuji velvia is renouned for this blue saturation, isn't it? Maybe like you said this can be dealt with in the scanning. Really a nice image, Greg.

Beautiful picture, Excellent balance Bet waves and clouds. The only thing, i believe is a lit bit saturate (blue), other than that excellent. Regards

This is a breathtaking scene, I love the echo of the wave in the clouds. "Decisive moment" in landscape, so to say. If this were digital, I would have quarreled about oversaturated colors, but it was Velvia + polarizer, and film aficionados would stand up for the intense hues here. However, colors are a bit over the top for my taste (not for PN, I know). I would desaturate the blue a wee bit. Otherwise a fantastic shot, a textbook example to show why a "dead" horizon can work ;-)

Thanks so much everyone. I do agree with all the comments that it could be desaturated a little - esp. those magentas which are pretty intense. I'm still getting accustomed to the slide scanning and color matching process, so I appreciate all the input!
