carl_sanders2 0 Posted April 26, 2002 i have lots of odd fish pics but this one completely stumps me as to why it is so dark on one side and the fish around the sides are faded out why is this? Link to comment
sam_portera 0 Posted April 26, 2002 I have sone successful pics of my tank using an off camera flash ata 45 degree angle to the glass, This way there is no reflection. Link to comment
david_owens1 0 Posted April 26, 2002 If you have reasonably powerful flash try positioning it above the tank, and diffuse it with tissue or perspex. Your exposures will have to be calculated manualy. Link to comment
carl smith 0 Posted April 27, 2002 I agree, use an off camera flash and position it above the take. There isn't really a way to reliably get rid of that reflection. It's just how stuff works. Link to comment
matthew_newbold 0 Posted April 27, 2002 First, the best way to light this type of scene is from above. Sometimes this is not an option,in such cases the next best thing is to place the flash on any other axis than that of the lens. If you are unable to do this then get the lens hood right up against the glass so that the lens can't see the flash's reflection. I get the impression that your flash was the basic built-in type. At least the bare minimum of data regarding it's proformance should be in the cameras instruction booklet get this info and refer to the sections in photo.net regarding light, in the "learn" menu click beginers then tutorial and look for the info you need if you don't find the answers you are looking for email me I have information about how light functions and travels that no sane human being would ever begin to wonder about.
