Excellent strong composition and the colours work well (I agree it doesn't matter how the effect is achieved so long as it looks right). You have a great model there. This makes an interesting masculine counterpart to my feminine version which in many ways has the same elements but very contrasting pose, coloring, layout and atmosphere. ... Jonathan

Great image. The colors are fantastic. I think a little crop from the bottom might give more focus to the model, the really soft water down in front is rather distracting to my eye.

The look on his face really captures the viewer. I wish sunsets around here looked like that! Excellent lighting with the blue softbox! Gordeous color!

I disagree with the crop suggestion. I like the long gradual build of blurry water up front as it becomes more and more sharp all the way up to the model. I also think the blue in the foreground creates an upside-down funnel shape that leads right to the model.

What a wonderful play of colors you have with this piece. Your model stands out quite well, an island of blue in a sea of pinks and purples (ok, I'm waxing too poetic here. I must need sleep).

 

I'm somewhat divided over the blurry water near the bottom. I do think it draws some attention from the model, and would have been better if it were sharper (which would no doubt had cut your shutter speed down too low). However, to crop it out of the piece as it is now would ruin the symmetry you have, with the model's waitline being almost at the vertical midpoint.

 

Truly, a striking photograph. I wish we'd get sunsets like that here

I like the color cast, the art is good with an original feel, but the Nike comercial aspect turns me off.

his stare is cold and scary....his built is awesome...this image leave you cold, because of his skincolour and stare.. and hot because of the colour surounding him and his physical shape..well done

Glossy mag aesthetics - advertisement work. Attempt to compensate with effects for the lack of originality. The fact it was rated rather highly just reflects the level of the audience. No artistic merit. No rating.

that's a bit harsh. it's a good looking image but it seems a bit contrived.

Mr. Bender, let's see your photo gallery to compare this image with yours. Didn't we see you in The Breakfast Club as the teacher? I think SuperCuts should use this image in its advertisements. Nice work.

i've been seeing this image here for some time.. when u do a search by rating...u use any combination of aesthetic/originality/no. of ratings, this photo pops up..

its like a new hot song by a teen which u hear everywhere for a month...in pubs/bistros/the radio..etc etc...u like it at first...then it gets on ur nerves...u almost would never want to actually play that song urself and hear it again...
